One of my fondest childhood memories is of an autumn morning in the town park, some time in the late 1980s. It consists of a mental picture of a lawn covered with a thick layer of brownish leaves fallen from the nearby chestnut trees. Iโm standing in the middle of it, doing nothing in particular, just feeling incredible, inexplicable joy.
I was reminded of that scene, and the accompanying feelings, many times over the past two months as I was exploring one of my favorite local nature spots, the Bojฤin Forest (Bojฤinska ลกuma) near Belgrade. Thankfully, this autumn we had relatively warm weather with lots of sunny days, which made for some really pleasurable walks. In this post Iโll share just a sample of snapshots I took during the months of October and November – images that have become new – and wonderful – memories.
