This time of year, my favourite thing to re-watch is the legendary BBC anthology series โA Ghost Story for Christmasโ. Originally broadcast between 1971 and 1978, each episode is a television adaptation of a classic ghost story, very much in the old tradition of wintertime storytelling focused on the supernatural and the otherworldly.ย
Retro TV tip: โThe Famous Fiveโ (1978)
In this post Iโm presenting my favourite adaptation of Enid Blytonโs Famous Five books - the 1978 series produced by Southern Television.
Retro TV tip: Children of the Stones
Produced as a childrenโs TV series back in the 1970s, Children of the Stones has stood the test of time as one of the spookiest television programmes ever made!ย
Book review: โGhostland: In Search of a Haunted Countryโ by Edward Parnell
โGhostland: In Search of a Haunted Countryโ is an excellent, genre-blending book, that brings together nature and travel writing, literary and cultural history, exploration of the supernatural, plus the added element of memoir. Itโs filled with the sense of love, wonder, and appreciation for Englandโs landscapes and the ghostly tales that quietly echo through its forests, hills and moors.
