Add to that a rather unconventional and original approach to its themes, and you have a recipe for a great, genre-bending novel.
This book is a very nicely written novel, with gorgeous descriptions of a quiet, provincial life, offering glimpses into the lives of northern German landed gentry of the late 1800s.
Published by Thomas Nelson, this commentary is not designed to be neutral: its target audience is pretty narrow and specific, and the theological framework behind its scholarship precisely defined.
