Free ebook: “Uncle Abraham’s Romance” by Edith Nesbit

If there’s a solstice or an equinox approaching, you know it’s time for another free ebook in my Grammaticus Free Library series!

The eleventh title is a short ghost story by Edith Nesbit (1858โ€“1924), a prolific English writer, poet, and socialist activist. Originally published in the Illustrated London News in 1891, it was republished two years later in the collection of her short stories titled “Grim Tales.”

E. Nesbit

It tells the story of a lonely old man remembering a series of unusual encounters with a mysterious woman. Was she just a product of his imagination or perhaps a visitor from the beyond? If you like ghost stories, youโ€™ll enjoy this one!

Like the previous ebooks, this one also contains vocabulary notes intended for English language learners, levels B2 and above.
